What is the Qalipu Business Network?

The Qalipu Business Network (QBN) is an opportunity for aboriginal business owners to network with each other, develop alliances and partnerships, explore joint ventures, learn about business opportunities and build relationships among Qalipu members. It brings Qalipu business owners under one umbrella and helps create a significant Qalipu business presence.

The QBN recognizes that business development is both opportunistic and strategic. It is about finding out who is doing what and how that may benefit one’s own business. It is about exploring complementary business ventures.  Building awareness is a key component of business networking.

Membership in QBN is a marketing and networking opportunity for members. QBN is the place to make contact with other aboriginal owned businesses and begin effective relationships with likeminded business owners.

The QBN is also where major contractors search for aboriginal sub-contractors and suppliers. Major developments are happening throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and the need for sub-contractors is great. QBN can help member businesses make the business connection to one or more of these developments. Members can be on the lookout for opportunities for themselves as well as for opportunities to connect other business owners with each other for mutual benefit.  Online networking reduces time and travel in an era when costs are escalating. When you register you create a profile which will be shared with all registered business owners.

Who can be a Member?

Membership in the QBN is restricted to the businesses which are at least 51% Aboriginal-owned and controlled by one or more Aboriginal Persons; “Business” means sole proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership, corporation, joint venture, syndicate, co-operative or society with the legal capacity to enter into and be bound by private contracts.

How to become a Member?

Simply register, and after a review by QMFN staff, credentials will be supplied to the contact person you designate.

Qalipu Logo Usage?

Qalipu Logos are property of the Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nation and cannot be used by others without the express written consent of the Band.

Business outside NL?

If you are owner of a business headquartered outside Newfoundland and Labrador, you may join QBN, but Qalipu cannot match the level of support that it provides businesses that are headquartered in Newfoundland and Labrador.  For business support look to the services in your own province.
