Mawio'mi 2016: Engaging Youth in Business Innovation

Mawio'mi 2016 starts tomorrow! 

Now in its fifth year, this annual aboriginal business forum brings Qalipu member owned businesses, aboriginal entrepreneurs, and key industry representatives together.  Networks formed at this yearly event lead to a variety of opportunities including procurement, employment and training.

The Glynmill Inn, Corner Brook, will be the site of this years’ forum which will take place over two days, March 9-10.  In addition to participation from aboriginal businesses, and presentations from major development project leads, for the first time it will include a group of 18 student delegates who will participate in the forum, as well as a separate youth component.

On day 1, learn about Canadian Aboriginal Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC) certification and ISO Certification.  Day 2 of the event will feature welcoming remarks from Brendan Mitchell, Chief of the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation, and the Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills and MHA Corner Brook District will bring greetings from the province as the keynote speaker during the luncheon.
